One More Day

2011 is passing into history and we are enjoying the sunshine.

Having just arrived home last night from a great trip to Florida, in which we celebrated birthdays, Christmas and family, I am contentedly tired. I peacefully slept in my own bed last night but woke up to a house that didn’t smell or sizzle with Granddaddy’s breakfast and Grandma’s coffee.

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions typically. I forget about them come February and it seems a useless practice for my own level of willpower. However, I have decided that I will commit to one goal for 2012. Call it a resolution if you must but it is less of a discipline or behavior change than it is a project to conquer. In 2012 I would like to publish something. I’m not sure which route to take, or even what subject to sacrifice, but I’m going to step out prayerfully and entrust the gifts God has given me to His discerning care in sharing them with others.

That is then, what to begin tomorrow…or Monday, as tomorrow is Sunday and a holiday. The real question is, what to do with TODAY! I have already slept in. I have plans for the evening and lots of things to unpack. So I don’t really have a lot of time in which to choose an occupation during the day, responsibility often precedes pleasure. I suppose what I will really do is try to end well. Not just in planned activities, but in spending the hours with the objective of enjoying my little family and all that goes with them.

So I will stop typing and move away from my computer. Make some oatmeal and hope I have some milk somewhere to go with it. The boys are hungry.
