The Case of the Mobile Crafter

I saw this:

…and thought of this:

It was my mom’s. A long time ago. Long before she was a mom.

It’s been holding stuff that congratulated me on being a mom for the first time. Stuff I should probably find a new way to save.

It also had a stuffed animal that was once so precious it couldn’t be let go of and I had to hide it and replace it, before it was shredded. I showed it to Aron, who loved it so violently, and he laughed at it, and said “it’s not cute,” and hugged his second replacement piglet, with no memory of this first one and my heart sank down a little at his loss. It is pretty awful, but I still love the way he loved it once, and I don’t know if I can let it go that easily.

And it’s falling apart in places. And it’s bent up a little, but I imagine that my mom once used it to travel to Florida with her cousins, and took it to sleep-overs and maybe even on her honeymoon.

I think it has potential.

I am thinking crochet case possibly. A place to organize hooks, yarn bits, string and scissors. Books and patterns and ideas could be kept in the top portion while current projects could be stored in the bottom.

What else might live well here? What do you think? Any ideas? I would love to hear other suggestions on how to design and use this for a practical purpose like the craft case above.
