Josie’s Limerick

I have been cleaning out closets. Lots and lots of closets. In each one I am finding boxes of things that have been saved for years. I gathered everything I could out of the closets and tried to consolidate things, throw things out, separate things for goodwill or a yard sale and so on. My guest room was headquarters and it was a huge mess until last night.

Last night I divided, but did not conquer. After days of going through things, I still hadn’t touched about 8 boxes and I have company coming. So I found places for the things I have conquered and stowed and packed and squished it all away until another day. I did make progress. I threw out around 4 kitchen garbage bags of things I don’t need to keep any longer, and the guest room is all back together.

In the stash, I went through a lot of yellowing paper. I found one scrap piece with my sister’s handwriting with two limericks on it. One was the limerick I published some time ago that my grandpa had written. The other one I didn’t remember, but it had my mother’s name on the bottom. Apparently we were all having some fun with the limericks and my sister had saved a bit of it.

So today’s limerick is not my own, but the work of my mom:

There once was a man named Brian,
He had a cousin named Ryan.
They had the same wife,
Which caused them some strife,
And with that I ain’t a lyin’

  1. Yea me! It was me, Amy. I saved it. I did good, didn’t I!!! (I’m sure you can figure out that I’m acting stupid…which isn’t difficult.)
