A Good Week

It’s been a good week. The days found us busy but not so busy we couldn’t relax and enjoy each other and the boys have found ample opportunity to learn and react to things in their own special ways.

Thursday night was the first annual BGM (Brent Gambrell Ministries) Fundraiser Banquet. There was a good crowd and good food and the place looked pretty cool. Brent is always good at creating an atmosphere and though I know he didn’t do the work himself, I am convinced that he had his hand in the final look of things. Kris and I hosted a table of two other couples and really enjoyed the night. There were a lot of old faces to see and catch up with as well as a lot of new folks to meet and become acquainted with. I sang my little song, talked a little too long and then sat down to enjoy the rest of the night. There were a good deal of generous donors there and the evening was exceptional in it’s success financially.

Our dear friend Charlotte watched the boys for us and what a treat to have had her help. Of course it’s nice to leave them in capable hands but she is always so eager and sweet about it. She speaks as if it’s a real honor to keep them. Owen loved her and I’m sure Ivan did too but he wouldn’t say so. When we got there she told Owen her name was Charlotte and he immediately responded with “well, Charlotte is a spider.” I think that fascinated him that she could be named the same thing as a spider.

The weekend has been full of work and fun. We drove around town yesterday with three or four goals in mind and only accomplished one thing for all of our effort. Stores were closed, inventory low, boys were tired and our van quiet as we drove home contemplating how we could have used so much time and gas with such meager results. The evening proved more productive and Kris at least was able to check all but one thing off of his list. I didn’t make a list. Saturday is my day off from lists.

Today was and is beautiful. The puffy clouded sky and the breeze blowing the trees makes for a pleasant view out the back windows and with such beauty topping off a tremendous church service I feel we are quite the blessed folks today. Kris did a great job teaching Sunday school this morning and the worship and baptismal service were wonderfully moving.

God is good…I think that was mentioned a few times this morning and it seems He’s reveling in our notice of it.

  1. I’m glad Brent’s fundraiser went well but I’m sad that we missed it. We’ve heard so many Images stories that it would have been nice to actually see you guys perform.
